There are many types of headaches, and the following are the three most common ones that our community should be aware of.
1. TYPES OF TENSION HEADACHE This is a headache in which the whole headaches and the pain is mild, usually unable to stop us from our daily activities. This headache, no additional symptoms, just a headache! This is what the community usually takes for headaches like “paracetamol” etc. (ordinary pain killers). Although its origin is not fully understood, it is associated with anxiety, thirst and hunger. [Figure A]
2. Migraine Headache This is a very severe and disabling pain. A headache that often hits one side of the head is a throbbing pain in the head that gets worse and can last for a few hours to three days once it starts, from activity it is a starting point. In addition to headaches, migraines are accompanied by other symptoms such as vomiting, anorexia, and blurred vision. Sometimes the pain is preceded by symptoms such as blurred vision, zigzag lines in the eyes and inability to speak, among others. At this point, people with this type of headache know that they are about to have a headache. Triggers include: excessive worry or tension, alcohol, hunger and thirst, too much sleep or sleeplessness, menstruation (for women), excessively loud disturbing noises, looking at bright lights, something with a bad face and so on. We need to know what triggers us, and avoid them as we personally do. If it causes more harm than that in our daily lives and it doesn’t stop with the small amount of medicine we take for headache, we should go to the hospital and get prescription medicine. [Image: B]
3. CLUSTER HEADACHE this is found in a wide range of types of headache called trigeminal autonomic cephalic and only hurts one side of the head (left or right), around the eyes, on the side that hurts symptoms: watery eyes, red eyes and stuffy lips. The intensity of the pain is extremely severe, worse than other headaches. When the pain begins, it starts around the eyes, not slowly like other types of headaches, but suddenly and eventually like fire. It occurs at the same time of day and sometimes wakes you up. The origin of the disease is never known, but some books suggest that it is transmitted by seed. Although the disease cannot be cured, medications are given to reduce the pain and prevent it from coming on quickly. [Image: C]
