Lord Shiva's 3rd eye

Sadguru is explaining the symbolism of the third eye of Shiva and how when this third eye is opened, clarity and direct perception arise. He also tells a story about how Shiva consumed Karma.

When Shiva opened his third eye

Sadguru: There is a story about how Shiva opened his third eye. In India, there is a deity named Kamadeva for love and sexual desire. Cum means sexual desire. Sexual desire is something that most people do not like to admit directly. You want a little aesthetics around it, so you make it look like love! In the story, Kamadeva hides an arrow in Shiva's heart while hiding behind a tree. He was a little upset. So he opened his burning third eye and burned Kamadeva to ashes. Usually this story is told to everyone.

But please ask yourself once, does your lust awaken inside you, or behind a tree? Of course it wakes up in your heart. Lust is not just about the opposite sex. Every desire is lust, be it for sex, or for power or position. Basically lust means feeling a kind of imperfection in your heart, an intense longing for something; Which is why you feel like, "I'm not perfect if I don't have it."

Third eye of Shiva: Yogic dimension.

Based on this, there is an additional dimension to this story of Shiva and Kama. Shiva was practicing yoga, which means that he was practicing not only to be perfect, but also to be infinite. Shiva opened his third eye and saw Kamadeva - which was in fact his own awakened desire; And reduced him to ashes. Ashes slowly began to emanate from his body, which meant that everything inside became as calm as ever. With the opening of the third eye, he realized in his heart a level that went beyond the supernatural and all physical obligations.

What is the third eye of Shiva?

Shiva's third eye is an eye that sees everything that is not worldly. You see it when you look at your hand, because it stops and reflects light. You don’t see the wind because the wind doesn’t block the light. But if there is a little smoke in the air, you will see it because you see what blocks the light. You don't see anything that lets the light go straight. This is the nature of our two senses.

The two senses of the eye can control anything worldly. When you want to see something that is not ghostly in nature, the only way to see it is to look deep into the heart. When we talk about the third eye, we are actually talking about seeing something in a symbolic past that the eye cannot see.

The features of the eye senses are that they are extroverted. The third eye is your heart - to see the nature of your own being and existence. It’s not an extra addition or a crack in your forehead. The level of perception through which one can perceive something beyond the limits of materialism is called the third eye.

Realizing life through the third eye

Another aspect is that the eye senses are deeply polluted by action. Action means the remaining memories of past work. Everything you see is affected by these remaining karmic memories. You can't get away without it. If you look at someone you will think, "She is beautiful, she is not beautiful, she is good, she is evil." You don't see things exactly the way they are because functional memory affects your vision and your ability to see. These will only show you everything in terms of your actions, according to your previous memories.

To see everything properly, one must open one's piercing eye, which is not tainted by memory. Traditionally in India, gaining knowledge does not mean reading books or listening to anyone's speeches, nor gathering information. To know means to unveil a new vision or insight about life. No deep thought or philosophical thought can bring clarity to your mind. The logical precision that you create can be easily distorted. Complex situations can throw it into turmoil.

True clarity is awakened only when your insights are revealed. No situation in the world or any person can distort this clarity in your heart. The opening of your third eye is very important for the development of true knowledge.
